1. Pick up the syringe.
2. First, bend the trap toward the side by approximately 90 degrees.
3. Remove the cap.
4. Perform the injection as usual.
5. Secure the needle by placing the trap against a hard, stable surface, using one hand. Then press down the trap. Bend the trap until the needle audibly clicks into the plastic part.
6. Dispose of the syringe with the secured needle in the nearest sharps container.

Due to its special design—the needle protection mechanism is integrated into the syringe label—Needle-Trap is easy to use, without requiring the user to change his/her injection technique. View of the needle is unobstructed, enabling the user to retain full control of the injection process. The content of the syringe, the graduation or air bubbles can be easily detected, as usual.
The protection mechanism is activated in a controlled manner, even in case the syringe is only partly discharged, and clearly perceptible acoustically (clicking sound). In addition, Needle-Trap’s compact design saves storage space and allows normal disposal. The amount of waste is relatively small, which helps protect the environment.

The quantities of blood (0.0001 l) and medicine content (0.00008 l) released are hardly traceable and thus completely harmless. This has been clearly proven in a scientific study performed by an internationally recognized expert.
Needle-Trap meets all current requirements concerning safety mechanism against needlestick injuries. These include, among others, requirements of the U.S. NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) for “safe instruments”, the German TRBA 250 (Technical Rules for Biological Agents), the European Biosafety Network Toolkit as well as the new EU Directive 2010/32/EU for protection against needlestick injuries, which had to be implemented into national legislation by all member states in May 2013.
Due to the directive, employers in hospitals, medical practice and the healthcare sector are obligated to analyze the risk of infection by blood or other body fluids when handling pointed/sharp instruments and to initiate appropriate actions. Employers are required to provide processes or medical instruments with integrated protection mechanisms to reduce or eliminate the risk, in order to protect physicians, nurses, healthcare staff, cleaning personnel as well as patients. Where possible, needle protection systems like Needle-Trap shall be used.

1. Ensure to bend the trap toward the side in any case, before removing the needle cap. Thus, you avoid a potential needlestick injury by the unprotected needle.
2. When activating the protection mechanism, bend the needle until it audibly clicks into the trap. In case the needle is bent too much or too little, this might have a negative impact on securing the needle.
3. You must never use your second hand or any other body part to secure the needle in the trap. Thus, you avoid accidental needle stick injuries.
